Can I eat or drink before my test?
Yes, you may eat and drink as normal before your test. There are no dietary restrictions for EMG or NCV testing.

Wear loose-fitting clothing for your comfort. For neck and/or upper body testing, a loose-fitting short-sleeved shirt or tank top is recommended. For lower back or lower body testing, wear loose-fitting shorts.
Should I avoid lotions or moisturizers before the test?
Yes, please do not apply any lotions or moisturizers on the day of the test. These can interfere with the recordings. Your skin should be clean and dry. Deodorant is fine to use.
What if I have cold hands or feet?
If you typically have cold hands or feet, please wear gloves or extra socks to keep your skin warm. Reduced skin temperature can affect the accuracy of the readings.
Are there any after-effects or downtime following EMG and NCV testing?
There is no recovery time needed after either test. You may experience mild temporary soreness at EMG needle sites, but this resolves quickly and does not interfere with driving, work, or daily activities. NCV testing does not cause lingering discomfort. Patients typically resume their normal routines immediately after leaving the clinic.
